DIY Instax/Polaroid Photos for Journaling and More

Since I have stared journaling in my FoxiDori, I desperately needed some cute photos of our everyday lives. I take so many on my phone and have them on iCloud but I didn't really want to wait until I had time to find or make a instax template and drag and drop my photos in. My kids rarely let me get on the computer so I had to find a way to do it on my phone! I use an iPhone and I'm not sure if these apps would be available or not on android platforms.

Video Tutorial if you'd like to watch how I journal and see more of my pages!

What you'll need:

A phone capable of AirPrint
A wireless printer
4x6 photo paper
Scissors

How to:

First take your pictures or you can do it directly in the Instants App. Create your Polaroid picture and choose your filter. Be sure to use the 4th Polaroid mode as shown below (it will fit the 4x6 photos better)

I save it as compressed since they are tiny anyways.

After that just click on the square with the down arrow button to save it to your photo album. Repeat these steps for at least 4 photos.

After saving all 4 Polaroids open up your PicStitch app.

In this app you can easily choose your layout and change the aspect size. In order to fit 4 Polaroids perfectly on a 4x6 photo choose the 4 square layout, and change the aspect to 4x6.

Then click on each square and insert each Polaroid picture one by one from your photo album. & save this picture to your album.

Printing

Now that we have our photo saved the next step is printing it correctly.

First go to your printer and change the paper size to 4x6 and place your 4x6 photo papers into the paper tray.

Then use your phone and open up that picture with the 4 Polaroids you've just made. Click on the square button with the up arrow to share it. And click on the printer icon to print it. Select your air print printer and print!

You should have a 4x6 photo like this:

Then just take your scissors and cut out each Polaroid picture and ta-da! Your very own instax pictures!! Minus the cost of the instax camera or instax share printer and film!

I hope you enjoyed this tutorial and enjoy capturing memories for your journal!

UPDATE: If you'd like even smaller Polaroid photos you can either do the above steps (before printing) 4 times again and then create another collage with those 4 collages to have a total of 16 mini Polaroids! I wanted to see if they'd fit in the Erin Condren boxes so I tested it out and they do! Or you can make your 16 Polaroids first, and then find a layout in the pict stitch app with 16 squares in the 4x6 aspect.

This is what it would print out like on a 4X6 photo.

I take a million pictures a day and I can't journal every single picture I take in a day or there'd be no room to write so I thought I'd make mini photos and just stick them in my ECLP since I wasn't using it at the moment.

And this is how I'm using it in my Erin Condren Planner

Not a lot of writing since I use my midori for journaling. Just a place to remember every day's photos.

My Midori Traveler's Notebook Planning System + Tons of Free Printables

Hi there everyone! I am so excited to share with you my new planner system! I have abandoned all other planners because I was just feeling very overwhelmed. I stopped using all of my planners because it just simply wasn't working for me. I fell out of love with them all and couldn't find myself being productive in using them. I needed a new system, a simple one. So I dumped everything and just started with a blank slate.

I found a Piccadilly journal at the thrift store and started using it as a brain dump/bullet journal. I loved it so much! I quickly went to youtube and found so much information about bullet journaling. My favorite videos were from ErinJoy, FlorenceAntonette & TheResetGirl I loved the way they planned in their midori! I also wanted to start scrapbooking our memories and travels so I created an insert for just that as well. And of course I needed my lists of wants and dreams!

So with bullet journaling, or my take on it, is that everything I have on my mind I quickly write it down as a task  into that day on that page. Then with the bullet journal key, I can simply organize it in a way that makes sense to me. I love that with this system you are accountable for everything you do. If it's not done, you have to transfer it to another day, and make sure you migrate it. Every day I go through my list and make sure that everything was either completed or migrated (written elsewhere). I have been using the Piccadilly journal for about 2 weeks now, but I didn't like that it was so plain! I needed to decorate, I needed a dashboard, a place for my stickers, a monthly calendar, and so much more! So when my FoxiDori came in I automatically started making printables that included the bullet journal plus more! I am currently planning everyday in this new system and absolutely love it. I've always wanted a way to see my week as well as my daily pages all at once. & now I can! So here is a closer look at my system.

My Midori is actually a regular extra room sized Foxi Dori from Kelly on Etsy.
Already so stuffed!

A Midori Kraft Folder & Clear Pouch stuffed with stickers and more!

Pretty Dashboard!

Love!

Here is my main planning section! It has the Bullet Journal Daily Pages in the center, Week on One Page with Daily Routines on the front cover as a fold over & a Project Life card folded in half for my bullet journaling key. I tried the horizontal month on the back cover for a little but I like having my monthly pages vertical and in its own notebook instead.

Bullet Journaling is like a Brain Dump To Do List with keys/signifiers for categorizing and organizing all your thoughts! I absolutely love it! I am still working on my own personal key as you know I like to sub-categorize everything!

My Week on One Page plus daily checklists on the front cover of the notebook. Only hard thing is writing in my weekly activities and events :/
In the back of my Midori, I have some financial trackers. They aren't in any notebook just by themselves. I use different pages for expenses that's why  Ihave a lot of them. I use one page for PayPal Expenses, one for food/eating out, & one for my shop/blog. I like seeing how much I spend in a month on each of those categories, and that's all I really need to keep track of. I should also have a page for how much I spend on fun planning supplies, home, and car as well!

These printables will fit the regular size Mindori.

& here are the printables I am using:

Bullet Journal for Midori
Week on One Page with Daily Routines
Budget Bundle (including bill pay, income, expenses, savings, & debt trackers)

Here are some other options as well:

Week on One Page with Grid
Horizontal Monthly Calendar with Monthly Tracker

How to Create Your Midori Inserts with my Printables:

  • Printing:
    • Print x amount of copies on 8.5 by 11 inches paper in landscape mode
    • Be sure to print at actual size or 100% scaling
    • Flip printed pages and put back into printer facing up and print x amount of copies again
  •  Cutting:
    • Gather printed inserts together
    • fold straight down the middle of the pages and score
    • staple the inserts
    • then use a metal ruler and measure the folded inserts to about 4.33 and place your ruler down and use box cutter or rotary knife to trim the excess ends repeatedly
    • then corner the edges of your inserts with a corner rounded!

Here is a great video by Robyn Lott showing you how to make Midori Inserts as well!

& To create the weekly/daily pages I just simply created a regular notebook with the bullet journal inserts, then printed and folded the weekly pages and attached 1 month's worth of pages and stapled it to front cover of the bullet journal notebook!

I just stapled the week one one page inserts onto the front cover of this insert & adjusted it until it folded over the days just right
Here is another view of the weekly pages on the front cover

If you do end up using these I would love to see pictures. Tag me on Instagram @wenduhh_plans or #mswenduhhblog Please do NOT share the actual file or file link. Instead please send your friends here to download my free printables, thank you.

Plum Paper Planner Review

So I received my Plum Paper Planner about two weeks ago, and wanted to use it for a bit before reviewing it. I will be sharing what I love about this planner and what I think about it overall.

Truly Custom Planners

So when you go to their Etsy shop, you will see all kinds of planners: Family Planners, Student Planners, Wedding Planners, Notebooks, Regular Planners, Horizontal Planners and more! & from there you can customize it even more! You can choose the layout of your weekly pages. They have all kinds of options for the regular planner with the Morning, Afternoon,
& Evening section, timed sections, blank lines with a checklist and more! See the image below for those options.

Cover

Plum Paper offers a variety of covers! You can customize your name on it as well. The cover is a thick cardstock paper with a frosted clear cover over it.

Family Planner

Now what really made me happy was their family planner! I absolutely love that I can write in my own sections for my weekly planner! If you've seen how i plan, I always separate my planning by category. I typically use a daily planner and separate it by Home, Kids, & Personal. But now that I have a blog to run, and an etsy shop, I totally needed more space & more categories. The Plum Paper Planner was perfect for that. Their family planner has 7 sections! I can plan according to each category!

The categories I chose were:
  • Home - for cleaning & organizing
  • Family - for things my husband has to do or things I want to do with my kids
  • Errands - for places to go, errands to run
  • Work - for my etsy shop, I put work instead of etsy in case my job changes in the future
  • Blog - for all things I need to do for my blog
  • Meals - to keep track of what we eat, or plan to eat
  • Memories - to write down little memories from our day to look back on and remember

It was hard to remember all of my sections when I folded over my planner. As you can see below, there are no labels on the second half of the week. I had to either plan with my planner all open or keep flipping it to remember. I am sure I will remember which section is which after planning it in more though!

Add Ons

Another great feature of the Plum Paper Planners are their add on sections! I love that you can add so much to your planner for a very small price too! You can add to do lists throughout your planner for every month, perfect for big projects you'd like to accomplish for that month. I added a home section and a blog section! They are tabbed in the back of the planner! It is so perfect for when I need to reference any expenses or write down little memories from my day in. I love the blog section because I can now track how many views & followers I get every week, and keep track of so much more with maintaining a blog. You can learn more about their sections by clicking on the links below. Here is a list of all their add-ons:

Sections:
Other Add-Ons:
  • To Do List Pages Dispersed
  • Sticker Sheets
  • Extra Checklist Pages
  • Checklist Pages Dispersed
  • Extra Notes Pages
  • Additional Months
  • Monthly Bill Tracker
  • Monthly cleaning Chart
  • Extra Contacts Pages
  • Extra Student Contacts Pages
  • Extra Direct Sales Party Planning Pages
Here are some images from their site of what's in the home section!

I use my shopping list pages for keeping track of all my expenses for my business. I use another page for all of my planner related purchases as well.

Monthly View

I love the wide boxes of the monthly pages. They have a section on the side for birthdays, events and notes.  All the tabs are laminated as well!

UPDATE: I just realized that after each month there is a repeated weekly page. I was confused at first when I turned to march, but then realized it's probably this way since they offer different starting months. Twice the decorating if you ever mess up on the last or first week of the month!

Pages & Decorating

The pages of this planner are sooooo smooth! They are thick and makes writing on them so luxurious. I literally couldn't stop gliding my hand over the pages when I first got it. They make writing in your planner so easy. & no need to worry about bleeding through!

The colors of the planner are a bit darker than I'd like for some months. February is a maroon color, but March is a bright green. I just like bright and fun colors, but that's just my opinion. There is little space for washi tape, so I bought a bunch of skinny washi to make do! The grey lines also makes it harder to decorate. I wish there was an option for no lines, because sometimes I like to write big and with the lines there it makes it hard to do that. But nothing that stickers can't fix! I bought some rounded box stickers from NicoleHutchDesigns on etsy that fit this planner perfectly!

In the back of the planner there are some glossy rectangular stickers that fit your planner boxes perfectly. They were a bit hard to write on with a gel pen, but I just used a sharpie instead.

Extras

In the back there are only a few notes pages, but you really don't need a lot since they have so many add on options anyways! I personally never use my notes pages as I like pre-printed forms and such !

They also include a contacts page, all the holidays, special dates page by month for birthdays and anniversaries, a yearly calendar & a sturdy keep it together double sided pocket folder.

So that is the Plum Paper Planner! After add-ons and such it can cost about $50. It is such a useful and well planned planner. I love how I can use every part of this planner and not just for weekly planning. I have utilized the shopping lists, cleaning lists, to do lists for projects, and so much in this planner already! I really love how customized it can be and it really is perfect! It has made planning my days so much more productive and keeping track of my work and blog has never been easier. i love that it is all one place!
