How to Make Inserts using Microsoft Excel


When it comes to making my own inserts, I absolutely prefer using Microsoft Excel over Microsoft Word. It doesn't freeze as much, has boxes so you can make sure everything is even, and has lots of easy ways to copy info over to other boxes. In this video I will show a very simple way to make some week on one page inserts! Hope this video was helpful, and if you do end up making your own i would love to see them! I've never used Excel to make inserts, as I don't run Windows, but I used Libre Office Draw. I don't *actually* know what it's meant for, but it can open PDF files to be editable for the most part, and that's a plus right out of the box, ha. Libre Office is free and available for most systems. Though it can be a bit finicky, I like all the options it has for creating. And, it's a whole office suite, comparable to Office, but free. I recommend it to everyone, no matter what they plan to use it for.

Thank you for that video. It helped me a lot. The first two inserts I made myself were in Word (kind of annoying) and Photoshop (pull your hair out, toss the iPad out the window!). So, I think Excel looks a lot easier! I am off to try and if it doesn't work then I am coming back to you for some custom work, k!?

I am back! I had great luck with the first page but when I went to the second page and started changing the rows it would change the rows for page 1!! Am I making sense? Can you help? I will watch the video again and see if I missed something. Thanks!

Thanks for this. As soon as I have a chance I'm going to watch it. I've been wanting to try my hand at making inserts in Excel (I usually use Word) but haven't known how to get started.

This looks really helpful, but after getting the page set up and all, how on earth do you PRINT them on letter-sized paper? (No, I don't have access to A4) I'd like to do some pocket sized inserts, and this looks like the way to go, but I get stumped on that next step...

Great Video, how do I know what the paper dimensions are for the planners.. I have Filofax in A5, Personal, and Pocket.
